šŸ”„ When you go to battle, you must fight with confidence.

šŸ”„ When you go to battle, you must fight with confidence.

Save the humbleness for pre and post battle

ā Thank you CUHK - GBS, ProfessorĀ Fred Ku, Rosette Leung andĀ Dennis WongĀ for inviting me to speak to the GBS, ABS and IBCE students yesterday night.Ā

It was great to meet the younger students. They energised me a lot.

šŸ“ My dear younger batch mates,Ā

I was so happy to see you all yesterday night.

šŸ“ You are all smarter and more technical savvy than my generation.

However, you need to be more confident when you came out to present yourself in the workplace and in the interview battlefield.

šŸ“® Always introduce who you are and where you are from whenever you speak to someone and answer a question in public.Ā

As mentioned in my lecture yesterday

šŸ“Š In my early years, when I attended the final round interviews of Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, HSBC and BAML.

Many of the final round attendees from the bulge brackets were from my program - CUHK Global Business..

We did not care about students from other top schools because our competitors were mostly from our program - either classmate or senior.Ā

(Feel free to LinkedIn all the CUHK GBS graduates - they are either in BB or Big 3 Consulting from Batch 1 to Batch 8)

šŸ”‘ Before and after interview, it is important to stay humble and research and prepare as much as you can.

Because you never know who your competition is.Ā

šŸ“š But when you go to war, you must go with a winning mindset.

The moment you attended a group interview, and you showed that you were going to lose, then you would end up losing.

šŸŽ„ As we were trained every week by Professor Gordon Cheung for case competition, we read HBS or other case studies and challenge each other's presentations.

šŸ”¦ We were trained to fight the war.Ā

We were constantly being attacked by our weaknesses.Ā

When others question your weakness, do not fear.Ā

Stay calm and prepare how to address your weakness and come up with another strength of yours.Ā

šŸ”„ If we lose the war, we learn from our stronger competitors.

šŸ”„ If we win the war, we stay humble and keep practising.

šŸ”„ But if we enter the war, we must fight with 100% confidence.

And I hope you all can inherit this culture and mindset from our program.

My lifelong wish is to see the younger generation overtaking and outperform us.
