❌ I lost a deal because I made a wrong judgement!

Few months ago, a close client reached out to me to hire a Manager position.

📝 They said they highly prefer a candidate with Power BI experience.

I immediately called my banking candidates and quickly identified 6 profiles who know Power BI.

🗓 There were a few banking candidates that did not know Power BI and I did not shortlist them.

Hence I only emailed the 6 profiles who knew.

🗂 In recruitment, I always want to send the best profiles instead of spamming my client with tons of unsuitable profiles.

Because reputation matters in this industry.

📉 If you spam a lot of profiles, clients would degrade you to a lower priority agency.

📊 Because of this assumption, I did not send that candidate that I spoke with earlier which ended up winning the offer from my other 6 candidates.

I made the wrong judgement of checking all the items in the box.

📮 I lost a deal despite having 7 years of experience.

But I learnt not to repeat the mistake next time and learnt to move on to improve in my upcoming deals.

💡 How about you?

💡 What was the recent wrong assumption that you made?

💡 What mistake did you make recently at work and how did you improve?
