🌟How to protect yourself against layoffs?

Sometimes I wonder why society or university or parents never teach us topics such as

🔺how to be indispensable at work or

🔺how to have a higher income.

With many of my friends affected by the restructuring lately, I feel it is important to learn 2 ways to protect ourself against it.

🔺The 1st way of survival is to be so valuable that your company cannot operate without you.

💎For sales related role, it is very obvious and simple to measure your performance.

If your company has 100 people and you are ranked 40th, that means you are safe because they have at least 60 people to cut before you.

🔺For non-sales roles, the answer is not always that straightforward but the theme is similar.

🔑If you are the only secretary / admin /cleaning lady / accountant / etc in the company, you are pretty much safe because the business cannot operate without you.

Every day it is important to ask yourself

💡How am I irreplacable to the company - Try to create tasks or skills that only you know how to perform

(even tho I believe everyone is replacable as a staff because there are always someone cheaper who can produce the same output or robots that can replace my skills - another topic for another time)

✏️The 2nd way is to have transferable and employable skills.

So even if you are cut, you are able to land another job easily.

💫What skills do you think are irreplacable?

💫What are the methods you are doing today to make yourself indispensable?
