🔥 Don’t burn bridges - A personal story to share

I have spoken with different lawyers and bankers in the past few months

📝 We have noticed an interesting trend

Rather than maintaining a good relationship with former employers

✏️ Some candidates chose to burn bridges with former employers to get the most out of the redundancy packages

Because restructuring is getting more and more common

⚖️ Some sued their previous employers so they might have a chance of getting a bigger compensation

In the past, I was a short term thinker and shared similar thoughts

🚶‍♀️ If I decided to leave a business, why bother maintaining a good relationship?

This reminded me of my job search experience a few years ago

📗 I interviewed at different recruitment firms because I wanted more exposure

Each recruitment firm taught me a better way of doing sales

📕 And I understand no matter which company I end up with, there are always pros and cons

When I finally got an offer

📝 I asked my previous manager to help me do a reference check

Then she asked “Have you thought of rejoining us? Someone in our company is leaving.”

☀️ I am grateful for her to invite me to rejoin the team

If I burnt the bridges several years ago, I would not have the chance of rejoining Michael Page with a chance of promotion

📮 I would not even know there was a potential opening!

That’s why I learnt to

⭐ Always maintain a good relationship with your business partners and senior management

You never know when opportunities will come again!

💡 What’s your thought of resignation?

💡 Have you ever burnt bridges before?

💡 How do you weigh the pros and cons of each incident?
