🎂 Celebrating my birthday: A roller coaster ride in my career
I am very blessed this year because
🎢 I experienced a roller coaster ride.
Earlier this year, the economy and business sentiment were so bad that I had serious work stress.
📉 I used to be a top biller and suddenly became a bottom biller.
It hit me hard & made me doubt myself despite having 7 years of recruitment experience.
I even had hair loss.
☎ Even though I made a lot of sales calls and arranged many client meetings, my sales revenue did not improve for 4 months.
There was a moment I wanted to give up.
💡 Then I decided to pivot.
I started to post career advice that I learnt from others and through interactions with my candidates and clients.
☔ At first people around me started to question me.
Some even complained about me and to my manager.
⚡ But when they saw my posts and business picking up.
They started to follow and copy me.
🌈 I was grateful to see some of my LinkedIn followers/potential candidates come up to me at MTR station or at the gym and said they enjoyed my articles.
Finally things are starting to improve.
🔥 Business is slowly picking up in Hong Kong.
I was happy that I had a breakthrough in my career.
🌝 I was invited to speak at TEDx this month. My dream finally came true!
This is the best birthday gift ever!
⭐ When you are stuck, do something new and different and you will yield different results.
Had I given up during a down economy or let others get in my way, I don’t think I can do something different and still love my job.
